01 THE PORTRAIT

A love that lives
in the ordinary.

Some messages say “I love you”. Others say the food is ready, the house needs packing, or please get some rest. This record holds both.

Just love me oluhlobo
you already are😊

April and October are partial months. September includes the documented move. Texting volume cannot tell us how life together felt.

A closer look at the rhythm +

Who restarts a conversation changes with the definition. Here, iKhohlwa lakhe starts more sessions across all four tested gap lengths.

When entries arrive

Export clock times; local South African time is assumed. Calls and shared time are not counted.

Small words, specific counts

Selected exact phrase and symbol matches. Languages, spelling, humour and copied text limit their coverage.

Your own little vault

The omitted media represent moments deliberately kept private between you two. Their contents are not guessed at or treated as an absence of care. Blank and deleted entries are counted separately; their type or contents are unknown.

Turn gaps, with their limits

Median time between adjacent sender changes, restricted to gaps of at most two hours. Not read-to-reply time: sleep, work, calls and same-minute timestamp rounding all matter.

OUR OWN LITTLE VAULT

Some moments
belong only to us.

Our pictures. Our videos. Our voice notes.
Kept between us, away from the machines.

2,390 private media entries in the export.
Their contents stay yours.

03 THE THREADS

this story theirs.

THE WORD CONSTELLATION

Little threads that meet.

Tap a node to trace the words around it.

Exploratory keyword groups. A line counts messages matching both groups; it does not prove a psychological connection. Nguni-language coverage is incomplete.

A LITTLE DICTIONARY OF US

Selected affectionate words, counted literally. Shared language is a texture here, not a compatibility score.

Warmth can return before an issue is settled. An apology is part of repair; the next action matters too.

05 TWO PEOPLE

Different ways
of being there.

Patterns in this record, with room for both people to recognise or correct them.

M

Mzilikazi

structure, practical help & expressive affection

He offers concrete help, shares work and plans, expresses admiration, asks questions and can acknowledge specific mistakes.

Where more care is needed: informing after a decision can leave the other person feeling excluded. A proposed system can miss the feeling that prompted the request.

K

iKhohlwa lakhe

everyday attention, humour & a clear voice

She notices needs, supports projects, organises practical life and directly asks for common ground and protected time. She also states preferences and declines help.

Where more clarity can help: needing time to gather herself or changing plans can leave him uncertain. Naming the pause and when to revisit it may help both people.

Neither description is a personality test, an attachment label or a ranking. Written roles can differ from the roles lived offline.

ONE QUESTION, JUST FOR US

What made you feel cared for this week that I might not have noticed?

Conversation prompts inspired by the findings.
There are no right answers to submit.

06 THE READING ROOM

Tenderness.
With the receipts.

28 published research sources help frame the questions. They do not turn one chat into a diagnosis or a forecast.

i

Each theme separates what is observed, another possible reading and what to ask next. Research explains why a question may matter; the chat supplies the examples.

How this portrait was made +

One export, one couple

All 11,187 participant entries were parsed. Multiline messages stay together; one system notice is excluded. Five backward timestamp pairs were corrected by stable sorting. The observation window is 14 April–13 October 2026, inclusive.

A computational scan and contextual reading

The complete export was scanned for structural metrics and keyword cues. Longer conversational text was reviewed chronologically, with shorter surrounding turns and targeted searches used to examine themes and six selected sequences. No independent second coder, participant interview or validated psychological scale was used.

The categories are exploratory

Fourteen relationship themes are qualitative interpretations. Eight keyword groups form the graph. They are separate methods: graph counts are literal cues, not coded counts of love, care or conflict. Category rules and case-study entry identifiers are available in the complete report.

Beyond this window

Calls, physical affection and offline events are outside this record. The omitted pictures, videos and voice notes are deliberately private: your own little vault away from the machines. Replies are timestamp gaps, not attention measurements. A nightmare is a reported dream; copied messages and third-party stories are not automatically the sender’s own experiences. Quiet days, thanks and apologies are not relationship-health scores.

Language and cultural context

English and Nguni-language code-switching, spelling, humour and endearments limit literal rules. No automated sentiment score or clinical attachment label is assigned. Western dyadic research and CNM studies are used as qualified lenses, not prescriptions for customary relationships.

Research access

Bibliographic records and abstracts were consulted for all 28 references. Full text was additionally reviewed for the three entries marked “Full text”. Some journal and PubMed pages returned access limits. This is a focused interpretive review, not a systematic literature review.

Discretion in the published copy

This site contains aggregate data, contextual paraphrases and six short affectionate excerpts. Raw chats, contacts, exact addresses, financial codes, private health specifics, third-party allegations and emergency phrases are excluded.
